Our sustainability credentials
Who we are
Fenton Packaging Solutions are a Leeds-based specialist in sourcing and supplying packaging for powders, granules, pastes and liquids. Following a £1m+ relocation to a 65,000 sq ft site and rebrand, we are uniquely equipped to provide our clients and customers with a wealth of innovative, environmentally defensible, packaging. Mitigating and solving the issues faced by our clients through intelligent packaging is inherent in all we do – we solve.
What we do
Steel, tinplate, rigid plastic, flexible (incl. Bag-in-Box), fibreboard & corrugated — including UN-approved containers for hazardous goods. Long-standing supply into chemicals, coatings & inks, resins, adhesives, oils & lubricants, plus foodservice.
EcoVadis Bronze
Independent assessment of environment, labour & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement — placing Fenton on a globally recognised scorecard.
Green Apple — National Gold
International Green Apple Environment Award, Paper & Packaging: Innovation, for sustainable alternatives to rigid plastic containers.
Trade body membership
Active member of the BCF, FPA, ICA, BCMPA, Campden BRI and the Chemical Businesses Association.
WHAT WE SUPPLY
A portfolio built for circularity
Steel & tinplate
Highly recyclable metal — around half of product lines. Can be recycled repeatedly without loss of material quality.
Rigid plastic
Buckets & paintainers available with a minimum 30% Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) content.
Flexible / Bag-in-Box
UN-approved alternatives to rigid HDPE for Packing Groups II & III; weight- and space-saving.
Fibreboard & corrugated
Paper-based formats for secondary and transit packaging, widely kerbside-recyclable.
REDUCING OUR OWN FOOTPRINT
Paperless operations
Whole-business move to paperless workflows following the relocation.
EV charging
Electric-vehicle charging points installed at the new Leeds premises.
Recyclable-first mix
Around half of product lines are highly-recyclable metal; active migration of customers to PCR plastic.
INNOVATION SPOTLIGHT- ECO-FRIENDLY MATERIAL USAGE
Bag-in-Box vs rigid HDPE
The award-winning shift driving Fenton’s sustainability story: replacing traditional rigid plastic jerry cans with UN-approved bag-in-box for suitable liquids.
Traditional rigid plastic
- Heavier units → more transport weight
- Bulky empties → wasted return/storage space
- Higher embodied carbon in raw material
- Greater pressure under plastic-reduction agenda
Bag-in-Box alternative
- Lower pack weight → reduced logistics emissions
- Flat-pack format → major space saving
- Recyclable where facilities exist
- UN-approved for Packing Groups II & III
Our collaborative efforts with Quadpak provided conducive to the development and production of the pioneering ‘bag-in-box’ solution, which essentially diminishes the need for inflexible plastics and enables our clients to both store and transport their products in a maximally efficient, environmentally tenable way. We were, too, delighted to have been awarded Gold in the 2025 Green Apple Awards for laudable innovation.
REDUCING OUR ENERGY CONSUMPTION
Energy-Efficient Lighting
Our move to our state-of-the-art Kinetic 45 site enabled us to realise, and maximise, energy-efficient solutions, for both the benefit of the planet and our energy costs! Our site employs reactive LED lighting which is motion contingent, though a less nuanced but ultimately apt approach for reducing consumption comes in the form of our skylight roof in our warehouse facility. Said roofing facilitates, weather-permitting, the switch-off of superfluous strip LED’s, enabling us to go one further in consumption diminution.

Transitioning our Infrastructure
Our current, now obsolete, system of virtual information storage was conducted via physical servers, as pictured below. However, said system used a significant amount of electricity; thus, we have switched to a safer, more ethically sound, virtually hosted cloud platform, provided by Innov8. The removal of the server is envisaged to both save energy, and to protect sensitive data.

WASTE MANAGEMENT
Ensuring internal wastes are properly allocated and recycled consistently is a matter of huge prominence for us at Fenton, owing to the wealth of objects and entities we encounter as a packaging provider. Staff have been trained on green recycling, return and takeback schemes, and are actively encouraged to engage in internal dialogue as to how we could do more to ensure proper sorting and recycling of wastes. Naturally, though, all of this manifests neatly at the bin-end.

Re-use and Refurbishing at Fenton
Circularity and utilisation of materials and goods already in our possession is hugely important to us at Fenton. Sage business sense, in packaging, dictates the most straightforward approach to reduction of waste through re-employment; we send samples out to prospective clients in boxes obtained from current vendors, and do all practicable to avoid using new boxes to send out our wares.
In addition, the diverse nature of our Kinetic site, being comprised of office suites, a boardroom, and a substantial warehousing facility necessitates the ownership of a not-insignificant quantity of IT equipment. Refurbishing and re-purposing old technology is central to our circularity and continuity of use efforts; currently, we are awaiting imminent refurbishment on our next suite of monitors, to be used cross-facility.

SASB Reporting
Fenton has aligned its sustainability reporting metrics with the SASB Standards for the Containers & Packaging industry, ensuring the topics we disclose on are transparent and comparable. The SASB framework identifies the ESG factors most critical to our supply chain, product lifecycle, and long-term business value — strengthening operational resilience and giving stakeholders a clear view of our material sustainability performance.
